Ledger® Live: Login | Getting Started™
Welcome to the official step-by-step guide to logging in with Ledger® Live. Whether you're a new user setting up for the first time or a returning user, this guide will walk you through secure login, device connection, and important safety practices.
New to Ledger? This guide is for both first-time setup and regular login to Ledger Live on desktop and mobile.
1. What Is Ledger® Live?
Ledger Live is the official application that allows you to manage your crypto assets with your Ledger hardware wallet. It provides features such as:
Account management
Secure transaction signing
Portfolio overview
Staking, swapping, and more
2. Understanding “Login” with Ledger Devices
Ledger Live does not use traditional logins like email and password. Instead, logging in means securely connecting your hardware wallet and verifying with your PIN.
Your Ledger device is your login key.
Your PIN code verifies your access.
Your 24-word recovery phrase restores access in case of loss/reset. Never enter it into a computer or phone.
Important: If any website or person asks for your recovery phrase, it is a scam. Ledger will never ask for it outside the device.
3. Before You Begin
Make sure you have the following ready:
A Ledger device (Nano S, Nano X, or others)
The latest Ledger Live app
Device cable (USB or Bluetooth)
Your secure PIN and recovery phrase backup
4. How to Login with Ledger Live — Desktop
Step 1: Connect Your Device
Use the original USB cable to connect your Ledger device to your computer.
Step 2: Launch Ledger Live
Open the Ledger Live app. If you're using it for the first time, choose “Get Started”. Otherwise, it will attempt to detect your device automatically.
Step 3: Enter PIN
On your Ledger device, enter your PIN using the physical buttons. If you enter the wrong PIN 3 times, the device will reset.
Step 4: Complete Verification
Ledger Live will verify the authenticity of the device.
You may be asked to confirm a pairing code on both app and device.
Step 5: Access Your Dashboard
Once authenticated, you’ll see your account dashboard, balances, and crypto portfolio. You’re now logged in!
5. Logging In with Ledger Live — Mobile
Step 1: Download the App
Download the Ledger Live app from the official Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 2: Bluetooth Pairing (Nano X)
Enable Bluetooth and pair your Nano X device with your phone. Confirm the pairing code on both screens.
Step 3: Enter PIN
Enter your PIN using the Ledger device buttons.
Step 4: Login Success
Ledger Live mobile will sync accounts and give access to your wallet features, just like desktop.
Mobile security: Always use app store versions of Ledger Live. Do not sideload apps from unofficial sources.
6. First-Time Setup (If You’re New)
If this is your first time using a Ledger device:
Choose "Set up as new device" on the Ledger screen
Create a PIN (write it down securely)
Write down the 24-word recovery phrase
Confirm the words in order to complete the setup
Never share or photograph your recovery phrase.
Store it offline in a fireproof, waterproof location.
7. Restoring a Device
If you already have a 24-word phrase, you can restore access by:
Selecting “Restore from recovery phrase” on the Ledger device
Entering all 24 words correctly in order
After restoration, connect the device to Ledger Live
8. Common Issues & Fixes
